Likewise, you probably wouldn't spend $130 on a backup power pack for other home security systems -- and you wouldn't for the Ring Alarm Pro either, if it didn't enable backup Wi-Fi.

The monthly data limit for backup Wi-Fi is 3GB, so you won't be able to use it constantly -- though Ring does offer extra data at a rate of $3 per gigabyte. The keypad comes with a power adapter, but it's supposed to be able to run on the rechargeable battery for months. You'll be asked to assign each device a unique name so you can more easily tell them apart in the app and when you receive alerts. Your home’s security can also be centrally controlled and monitored.
Energy monitors tell you how much power you are using and timed or remote controlled adapters allow you to reduce the amount of electricity you use by making sure you only have items switched on when necessary. The eight-piece kit comes with a base station, a keypad, a range extender, a motion sensor and four door/window sensors.
